*In the 1820 Census, the third column is age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any individual in column three is duplicated in column four.  By subtracting the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create an age class "19-25."

William & Lucinda had a daughter, Jane, born in Dec 1820, but the census is only supposed to include those persons born before 1 Jun 1820.  So, even if the census was enumerated after Jane's birth (and censuses could be enumerated that late in the year, and even into the next year), she should not have been included in the tally.  So, presumably, Daughter A is not Jane.  Unless Lucinda was several months pregnant when she married Hugh DAVIS, there is insufficient time for Daughter A to have been born before Hugh DAVIS, Jr.; and, unless Daughter A was illegitimate, there was insufficient time for her to have been birthed before William's daughter, Jane.  So, is Daughter A William's child by a former marriage?  That is the easiest explanation.  Certainly, it was not unusual, in those times, for a young wife to die giving birth to her first child; and, unless other kin were willing and able to take the child in, a widower with an infant child needed to remarry quickly.
