Samuel is said to have died in Seneca, Nemaha Co., KS, but I cannot find him in the 1870 census.

They settled at first a little south west of Grand Isle in Essex Co, NY.  By 1812 they had moved to Russell Twp, St. Lawrence, NY.  Between 1820-1830 Samuel Slyter moved from St. Lawrence Co, NY to Monroe Co, NY.  As early as Jan 1835 some of his children were married in Loraine Co, Ohio.

"The Isaac Cooper and Samuel Slyter family had lived in Avon about 1840.  I believe Samuel Slyter bought 15 acres of land in Avon, Section 16 which shows a date of 1842.  I believe Isaac Cooper's family lived in section 19.  The two families moved to Fawn River, Michigan before 1850 and then to Brimfield, IN (Orange twp) by 1855.  I am not sure if they were friends in New York but I have the feeling that they were, possibly members of the same Dutch Reformed Church.  I found evidence of an Abraham and Isaac Cooper in records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Kingston, NY."

The Town of Jay, Essex Co., NY, is southwest of Grand Isle [a town on an island of the same name in Lake Champlain], but it's a strange way to describe its location.
