3.  1840 Census.  Based on the birthplaces of the children, David Mashburn should be in Monroe Co., TN, but he is not found in the Broderbund database because surnames from the mid-H's through Z are missing from the database, both at GenealogyLibrary.com and on CD-316.  These surnames are also missing at Ancestry.com, so they must have bought their data from the same dubious source.  Please see my WARNINGS regarding use of these census databases, especially for Tennessee.

7.  Descendants of Drury Mashburn  by Lisa Ann Mashburn.
She [Sarah BROWN] was probably the daughter of John G. Brown whose family was living near the senior William Mashburn family in Monroe County Tennessee in 1830.  In that year both John and David were living near Madisonville, county seat of Monroe County, close to what is now Hiwassee College...  We know that David and Sarah were married October 19, 1826, in the residence of the bride's father, by Justice of the Peace John Waw.  The witnesses were John and Lucinda Wiggins.
