The Spencers came to Massachusetts ca 1830 and eventually moved to Connecticut.  Walter's parents were Caleb and Hannah Spencer who moved to what became Luzerne Co., PA ca 1770.  Walter served in the RW when he was 16 and filed for a pension in Scott Co. IN.  Hannah died in PA and no one is sure if Caleb made the trip to Kentucky with Walter ca 1793.  This is all well documented and a very interesting story.
