4a.  1830 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  there are two Jacob DAVIS'es in the 1830 census of Surry Co., NC, either one of which could be our subject, so I've extracted both (see below).  In fact, Jacob may have been accidentally enumerated twice as both roughly fit his household.  This view is supported by the fact that, otherwise, our subject is the only Jacob DAVIS in the county from 1810 through 1870.
