Jacob and Clemena are in the wrong age classes, yet surely these are our subjects.  Listed eight lines below Jacob's father, Leonard CUPP, who is listed two lines below Jacob's brother, John L. CUPP, who is listed one line below Jacob's sister, Eve (CUPP) SILBAUGH

3.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #235-236 of 278):  45 District, Preston Co., VA [now WV], pp. 455A-455B, 1376/1376, enumerated 28 Oct 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Jacob Cupp 43 M Farmer 1200 Va
Clamena  " 40 F     "
Paulina J " 15 F     "
Persus    " 13 F     "
Harrison  " 11 M     "
Lear      "  9 M     "
Susan     "  7 F     "
Lydia A   "  5 F     "
Mary      " 17 F     "
[next page]
Sarah Cupp  2 F     Virginia
The eldest daughter's name is clearly "Paulina."  The ordering of the children makes you wonder, but I'm going to assume Mary is just accidentally out of order.  Living next door to sister, Sarah (CUPP) BENSON, and four households from brother, John CUPP, who is living next door to their father, Leonard CUPP

4.  1860 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #67 of 336):  Muddy Creek P.O., District No. 2, Preston Co., VA, 444/437, enumerated 6 Jul 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Jacob Cupp 53 M   Farmer 1700 959 Va
Clemena  " 50 F         "
Caroline J " 24 F         "
Perses H   " 22 F         "
William H  " 20 M         "
Lydia A    " 13 F         "
Sarah E    " 11 F         "
Malissa J  "  6 F         "
Ezra Teets " 15 M         "
The eldest daughter's name is clearly "Caroline."  The enumerator had written Lydia's age as 15, then but a three over the five.  There is a ditto mark after Teets, which should not be there, unless he was adoped by the CUPPs.  In 1850, Jacob was living two-doors down from John TEETS, who had son, Ezra (æ 5).
