Benedict Joseph CARRICO
Mary Ann KENDALL
Husband:  Benedict "Ben" Joseph CARRICO
Birth:  3 May 1838, KY
Death:  28 Oct 1905, Meade Co., KY
Occupation:  farmer
Father:  James Hiram CARRICO, s/o Benedict CARRICO
Mother:  Helen BURTLE

Most secondary sources have our subject as Benjamin J. CARRICO, but in the 1850 census with his parents, he is "Benedict"; and, in his marriage record, he is "Benedich."  Yes, he is "Benj." in the 1870 census and "Benjamin" in the 1900 census, but I'm inclined to suspect both are enumerator error.  In other words, the enumerator was told "Ben," then he assumed it was Benjamin.  While it's conceivable our subject changed it deliberately, there is no doubt he started out Benedict — and his grandfather was also Benedict.

Thompson & Margaret KENDALL are Mary Ann's parents.  There's a high probability that Alfred CARRICO was a slave owned by Benjamin's father, which may mean he's Benedict's half-brother.
