#4474 is a descendant of Bazil ROSE, alleged by some to be a son John ROSE of the Group L ROSEs and formerly placed with the Group L ROSEs. With a genetic distance from the modal haplotype of Group L of 4 at 25 markers and 12 at 37 markers, there is no possibility this subject is descended from a Group L ROSE. We then have to ask whether the paper connection was bad in the first place, or whether the paper is correct, but this test subject has an NPE in his line. Or did Bazil have one in his? We can answer these questions by testing cousins of #4474. He does, however, have a 25/25 match with a GRONAUER. #4474 needs to upgrade to 37 markers to find out if this match holds up or drifts away, though being 25/25, it will probably hold up. If so, one or the other has an NPE in his patrilineal line and the GRONAUER also needs to test some cousins.
